OUTPUTS & OBJECTIVES

The three major project outputs are:

  1. To upgrade urban roads and drainage, 
  2. To upgrade tourist destinations through renovation and strengthened eco-friendliness, 
  3. To raise community consciousness regarding sanitation and hygiene, and to support the improved capacity of target agencies in urban service delivery. 

The Project aims to help the stakeholders to:

  1. Increase staff knowledge and capacity in tourism related operations & preparation of tourism promotion plan
  2. Improve livelihood opportunities for target groups and preparing strategy for product marketing
  3. Increase staff knowledge on project O&M, contract management and financial management
  4. Strengthen staff knowledge/skills of ASCL & PWD staff in road safety, asset management & maintenance
  5. Strengthen climate resilient urban planning, gender analysis and mainstreaming, and gender-responsive budgeting in urban planning for UDD & TUDA
  6. increase knowledge and capacity development of institutions, including through institutional reforms
  7. Strengthen staff knowledge/skills of ASCL & PWD staff in road safety, asset management & maintenance
  8. Create community awareness in sectors of water, sanitation & hygiene and communicable diseases

STAKEHOLDERS

The key stakeholders in this project are Agartala Smart City Ltd. (ASCL), Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Urban Development Department (UDD) and Tripura Urban Development & Planning Authority (TUDA).

Other stakeholders are Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (TTDCL), Tripura Jal Board (TJB) and Public Works Department (PWD) are also.

Communities within the city of Agartala are also stakeholders.

ACTIVITIES

This capacity Building Project aims to support institutional capacity though providing technical assistance and capacity building interventions. Short training courses and workshops have begun and will continue throughout the life of the project. The first workshop took place in September 2023.

Gender focussed are an important part of the project. 30% of participants for training has been reserved for female participants.

The key tasks under the project are grouped into 14 main areas of activity.

               TASK GROUP 1skill & knowledge enhancement for multiple groups       


Task 1A Strengthen Ujjayanta Palace staff knowledge/ skills on tourism-related operations & capacity for community mobilization
Task 1B Livelihood enhancement: target group - shopkeepers in Ujjayanta Palace Shopping Arcade & vendors for the Model Food Street.
Task 1C Strengthen Project Management and Operation and Maintenance of Urban Infrastructure
Task 1D Strengthen own-source revenue generation and financial management
Task 1E Strengthen climate resilient urban planning, gender analysis and mainstreaming, and gender-responsive budgeting in urban planning for UDD & TUDA
Task 1F Strengthen staff knowledge/skills of ASCL & PWD staff in road safety, asset management & maintenance
Task 1G Prepare Groundwork for future institutional reforms and mapping institutional structure of Tripura Jal Board
Task 1H Increase knowledge of AMC Health staff on preventive healthcare & disease control
Task 1I Provide & implement support for identified software for AMC, UDD & TUDA
Task 2A

TASK GROUP 2: targets ASCL

Provide technical support to ASCL for implementation of Smart City projects

Task 2B Provide technical support to ASCL for implementation and maintenance of Smart Roads
Task 3A

   TASK GROUP 3: community campaigns for health & safety

Develop community awareness strategy & modules to speed up public health & food safety progress. 

Task 3B Develop community awareness strategy & campaigns for road safety
Task 3C Develop community awareness strategy for behaviour change in WASH
